Inspirational musical experiences for young people

We are SEDMC

We’re a youth music charity delivering exciting, vibrant and inspiring musical experiences for young musicians.

Alongside weekly rehearsals – all directed by professional musicians – our members take part in regular concerts, workshops and tours.

As a non-profit, we promote access to music through subsidised fees for every member, and additional bursaries for families in need.

From your first five notes through to post-grade 8 – we’ve got bands, orchestras, choirs and chamber groups for musicians of all standards.

Why we’re different

Every rehearsal and workshop we run is delivered by professional musicians – who are not only experts within their fields, but experienced teachers and mentors too.

Coupled with this is a caring, supportive environment and space to socialise – helping young members grow in confidence and make friends – and memories! – for life.

As a charity, all our work is subsidised, making these opportunities accessible to all young people.

Where we’re based

Our main Saturday morning centre is based in Kirk Hallam, Ilkeston. A Cappella group, ‘Fresh Harmonies’ takes place Wednesdays after school in Long Eaton.

We’re easily accessible, with members joining us from across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
